.For some, hair is a little more than an accessory to the perfect outfit, but for Keinya, hair is an artistic medium. Keinya began her love with hair as an adolescent, styling and sculpting the looks of her friends and family. Later, she attended University of California Davis where she studied child psychology. “I’ve always wanted to help and work with children.” Keinya says with warmth. Yet as powerful as the urge to work with children was, it was no match for the calling of hairstyling. Once she began her course of study in beauty, Pandora’s box had been opened. She learned firsthand the values of professionalism, client care, and the balance between business and artistry. Her passion for education lead her to advanced educational courses from Vidal Sassoon, Redken, Joico, Paul Mitchell, and many others.
Keinya went on to learn, develop and master hairdressing with some of the best hairdressing artist in the business. Including but not limited to Nicolas French, and Kimberly Kimble, Robear Landeros, and many more. Keinya became the Team Lead for Ergo Research Styling Tools and an Instructor for The American Board of Certified Hair colorist this lead Keinya to instructing worldwide in various methods of Hair Extension and Hair Coloring techniques which is her passion.Keinya’s wealth of knowledge makes Keinya stand out among other stylists and educators. “I research what I’m going to do before I do it. You have to strategically teach people new information.”
According to Keinya, “If you can combine the ability to teach those that learn visually (by watching) with hands on demonstration learners and you are willing to learn as you teach, you will become a great teacher. You want your students to get it, seeing the light bulb coming on is priceless”. Today Keinya is owner and lead stylist at Hair Eco Salon and in metropolitan Sacramento California, and Co- Founder and owner of Mixed Institute of Cosmetology & Barber. There she teaches students “the basics” and how to continually nurture their artistic nature. She believes that "Your creative spirit, love for your art, and integrity can take you anywhere in life".
